HEAD COACH CHUCK SPEER

Brookland Schools has been proud to have Coach Speer serving as Head Coach for the past 4 years. It is Coach Speer’s 15th year as a head football coach.

Prior to joining the Bearcats, he had the pleasure of building the program at Conway Christian from the ground up and was responsible for getting the Corning program back on track. His teams have reached the state playoffs in 9 of his past 14 years.

Coach Speer grew up in a military family and lived in numerous places all over the world. He graduated from Junction City High School in Kansas. After playing for Independence CC and Baker University, he graduated from Kansas State University with a BS in Kinesiology. During his last two years of college, coach was honored to work with the Kansas State football program.

Coach Speer is married to Kim Speer and they have two sons Lukas and Logan.

SEAN HAMMOND

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR/LINE COACH

Brookland is thankful to have Coach Sean Hammond serving as a Defensive Coordinator and Line Coach. This is Coach Hammond’s fourth year with Brookland.

Coach Hammond graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1985 where he played football and ran Track. He was the Runner up at the 1985 State Track Meet for Shot Put and was also the Runner up in the Meet of Champs that same year.

Played one year of College football at the University of Arkansas Monticello and transferred to Arkansas State to play football the next year. Graduated from ASU in 1990.

He began coaching at Marked Tree High school in 1990 and was the Jr. High Head Coach, Sr. O-Line, and D-Line coach there through 2000. From there he went on to Harrisburg were he was Jr. High Head Coach, O-Line Coach, and D-Line Coach for 5 years. In 2005 he joined Wynne High School as the Head Jr. High coach and was there until 2010. In 2010 he went back to Harrisburg as the Jr. High Head Coach, O-Line Coach, D-Line Coach, and Defensive Coordinator until 2015. He joined Brookland in 2016 as the High School O-Line and D-Line Coach. He also helps with the Jr. High Team.

Coach Hammond has also coached a variety of other sports during his career including: Bowling, Golf, Tennis, Baseball, and Basketball where his Marked Tree team made the Elite at the state tournament.

While coaching the Brookland Track Team, he coached his own son to a State Runner-up and a State Championship in the Discus. He also coached a State Runner up in the Girls two mile and won the Jr. High Girls District championship in 2018.

John Proffitt - Defensive Coordinator/Outside Linebackers/Tight Ends Coach

Coach Proffitt is from Fayetteville, Arkansas and is a graduate from Fayetteville High School where he played Football.

Coach Proffitt Graduated from The University of Arkansas in 2009 with a BSE-Kinesiology.

While in school, he was a volunteer assistant at both Farmington High School as well as Fayetteville High School.

Coach Proffitt comes to Brookland after spending 10 years at Nettleton where he served as both the Junior High Defensive Coordinator and the Senior High Defensive Line Coach. During his time at Nettleton he was a part of one semi-final appearance and two conference championships. In addition to football, Coach Proffitt coached the Senior High Boys Soccer Team to 10 consecutive playoff appearances.

John and his wife Holly have been married for 6 years and welcomed their Son, John William "Jay" Proffitt to the world on June, 4th!

BRANDON PARSONS ASSISTANT COACH

Brookland is proud to have had Coach parsons as a Teacher/Coach for 14 years at Brookland.

Coach Parsons has coached the following sports at Brookland:

Middle School Basketball 2004-2009

HS Baseball Assistant Coach 2006-7 and 2009

Assistant Football Coach 2008-present

Boys Soccer Head Coach 2014-present

In 2015 and 2018 he led the soccer team to conference championship wins.

Brandon is married to Heather Parsons and has 2 Children: Samantha (12) and Alexis (8).

KEITH DAVIS QB/WR COACH

We are also lucky to have Coach Keith Davis serving in his 3rd year with the Brookland Bearcats.

Coach Davis is from Harrisburg, AR and graduated from Harrisburg High School. He graduated from Arkansas State University.

Coach Davis coached from 1993-2016 at Harrisburg High School, serving as Head Football Coach for 16 of those years.

Keith has been married to his wife Sarah for 25 years and they have 2 children: Zach Davis and Hannah Lawrey. They have 2 grandchildren: Hudson Davis and Eva Lawrey.

MATT REYNOLDS

ASSISTANT JR. HIGH/7TH GRADE COACH

Coach Matt Reynolds will be coaching our 7th and Junior High teams this year. Coach Reynolds graduated Jessieville High School in 2011 and attended Arkansas State University until 2015. He has spent the past two years at Marion where he started off as a 7th grade coach but moved up to Jr. High Offensive Coordinator.

Under his offensive play calling, the Marion Jr. High team averaged 36 points per game and had a record of 9-1. Matt has also spent the past two years as an Assistant Softball coach at Marion.

BRIAN HAYNES

JR. HIGH COACH

Coach Brian Haynes has been teaching and coaching for the past 16 years and we are fortunate to have had him here at Brookland Schools for the past 5 years.

Coach Haynes played Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track in High School and played one year for the Arkansas Sate Indians (now Red Wolves) 94-95

Coach Haynes has coached the following sports:

Football for 13 years

As Assistant Coach in Trumann he helped lead the team to 2 Conference Championships.

Basketball for 6 years

Softball for 14 years

As Assistant Coach at Nettleton he was a part of the 2002 State Championship team
As a Head Coach he has 3 Conference Championships and 2 District Championships.
At Trumann, his team reached 1 Regional Championship and was the 2010 State Runner-up.
Here in Brookland, He served as Assistant Coach for 1 Conference Championship and 2 Regional Championships and 1 state semi–finals appearance.

Coach Haynes is married to Jana Haynes. They have 2 children: Kamdon Slade Haynes (6) and Kirklyn Claire Haynes (4).
