WHAT IS THE BROOKLAND FOOTBALL FAMILY?

Becoming a member of the BROOKLAND FOOTBALL FAMILY is a rewarding and valuable contribution to our community, our school, and more importantly, our youth.

WHY JOIN? To provide support, encouragement and ideas to make our Football Family stronger and more effective in rewarding and recognizing our young people.

WHAT involvement or activities do I have to commit to? Becoming a part of the BROOKLAND FOOTBALL FAMILY means that you can be involved as much or as little as your time allows.

HOW much does it cost? The concept of becoming a member of the FAMILY is not about money or generating revenue. Coach Haney begins his first season with the Brookland Bearcats, coaching defensive backs and running backs. He spent four seasons at Arkansas State working with the Corners. During his first four seasons with the program, A-State claimed the 2015 and 2016 Sun Belt Conference title, won 32 games and appeared in four bowl games. Most recently, A-State finished the 2018 season with an 8-5 record and played Nevada in the Arizona Bowl. The Red Wolves won seven games the year prior and accepted an official invitation to play in the Camellia Bowl. A-State won back-to-back Sun Belt titles his first two years with the program, while also appearing in the 2015 New Orleans Bowl and defeating UCF in the 2016 Cure Bowl. While Haney was at A-State he has seen two defensive players earn either earn the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year or Defensive Player of the Year award a combined five times. Former defensive end Ja’Von Rolland-Jones ended his career as the second all-time leader in sacks by an NCAA FBS player while earning the league’s top honor twice. Fellow defensive end Ronheen Bingham took home the conference’s top defensive honor in 2018. Prior to Arkansas State, Haney worked as a volunteer coach at Van Buren High School from 2012-14 after ending a three-year period when he was a volunteer coach for the Charleston high school and junior high football teams. Charleston High School, Haney’s alma mater, won the state championship in 2011. His high school football career saw him earn all-conference honors and help lead his team to a state championship in 2008. Haney earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Arkansas Tech University in 2014. He and his wife, Harlee, have been married two years.
